December Moments
It's been a while since I've posted. My mother in law passed away in late November. Her memorial mass was held the first week of December. My great aunt, aged 96, whom I care for was placed in Hospice Ministries last week. We've had cold weather and loads of rain but missed the snow. I think if it's gonna be cold it should surely snow so we can ride down the hills on pieces of cardboard! Just south of us folks got lots of snow. How much sense does that make? Anyway, it is VERY warm today but cold weather will return so the forecasters tell us. Christmas is now just a week away. Shopping seems to bore me this year. I don't know why. I think I've been searching for the perfect gifts and there just aren't any. I've talked to my family and I think next year we will start a new tradition. Homemade gifts or maybe just the gift of our time. This past Sunday the minister mentioned that folks look so tired these days. Days that should be full of peace and joy. We stay too busy and we forget to just relax a little and enjoy life. We rush here and there and can only spare the briefest of moments at any one place because there is someplace else we need to be. Last night my oldest grandson (3) was in a Christmas program. Now if anything can pep you up...it's the grandchildren. He was dressed as a little angel. I almost didn't recognize him! (Just kidding!) Anyway, in the middle of the program his little halo fell forward into his face. I braced for the worst because he tends not to take things that go wrong very well. But bless his little heart...he just kept right on singing and doing the little hand motions and acting like nothing at all was wrong. The biggest smile on the cutest little face. Right there it hit me...we need to slow down and quit letting the small stuff get in the way so that we can enjoy life. I'm back to where I was in the last post...take a little time out to be a child...embarce life and live it!!! Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to you all...and may your New Year contain quiet moments and sweet memories to savor and cherish. Love you all....
