Rainy Saturday night
Hi Y'all! It's drizzling (don't you love that word?) out with a little wind but most of today...well, it was fabulous!!! Picnicky (is that a real word?) kind of weather...find an old oak tree that's still standing and spread out the quilt and bring on the fried chicken and tater salad. Maybe a little watermelon...cold...and some sweet southern tea!!! Picture Windsor as the backdrop. (Ok, the real me is back. I have no clue who that woman was who wrote the last post!!!) Take care and have a GREAT week!

Rainy Sunday evenings alone at home are not my thing. They are depressing. I don't know why exactly but they are. I ask myself why this should be but no whimsical bit of wisdom has descended on me just yet. Maybe this afternoon is just a culmination of the previous few days. I've had a cold and the grass is over my head. Generally the rain would not keep me from cutting grass. I'd run out between showers and cut away...but the cold adds a new element. Every time I get a cold these days I end up at the docs and he believes in shots!!! There are other things to concern me as well. My baby girl is gonna rent a house. Now this in and of itself is good. I should have done that when I was younger. Maybe I'd have made some wiser decisions in my life. (See I am really in a mood!) But alas I'm gonna miss her. Ok, maybe I should get over this. She'll be five minutes away and she's only been home a few weeks having been out on her own now for about 4 years. My son left Friday for his third year at college. Now I cry every time he leaves so this just can't be it! I won't bore you with the details...but things were REALLY, REALLY messed up when he got there. It still pains me to think of it. When he called me I had to pull over in a church parking lot. (a different storm this time) I thought it was all a joke but no, it wasn't. My brain sifted through all the things I could do to "fix" the problem but nothing came to me. I talked to his dad afterwards. He assured me all would be well and to QUIT worrying so much. My daughter went up and helped her brother "fix" the mess but in the end I was left feeling...well, old. There was a little glimmer yesterday when I was riding the 4-wheeler with the mud flying everywhere of the old me. My legs and socks and shoes covered with flicks of mud. Even a little speck on my shoulder. But today the over 50 me is back...and it's raining...and the grass is growing. The good news is colds generally last only a couple of weeks...I'm already well into week one. Tomorrow the grandsons will be here and rainy Sunday evenings will be well out of my mind. Stay well and dry....have a great week.

Grandsonisms
This isn't quite as cute as the Spuddies but it still makes my heart do that little dance when I think about the sincerity in the eyes of my three year old grandson. Today the boys wanted to go outside and play. So we get our shoes on and the boys get their caps and then I asked them if they needed to go potty. The three year old immediately says he does not. Sooooo...as we head toward the door he suddenly stops and looks up at me with all the concern those little blue eyes can hold and asks, "Grammy, do you need to go potty?" Now, maybe that doesn't sound like much to you but when you combine that question with the look on his face...well, I just wanted to cuddle him up and smother him with kisses. It was there on his face...total, complete innocence...taking care of Grandma the way she takes care of him. This child has blessed our lives so abundantly as has his brother. God is good....

Hey Everyone,
Lots of wind mixed with a little rain here on the hill. We had some trees down but thankfully nothing on the house as did others. (No rain through the stove pipe either...patched now with strapping tape.) Mom and dad had a tree come down that my brother and I played cars under as kids. We'd set up the farm house and take the matchbox cars, tractors, plows, animals, etc. and have a regular little farming community under that old oak tree. Gone now except for the memories. Recently Entergy had someone out to trim the tree. As they were cutting the limbs a snake came out of a hole in the tree almost into the bucket with the tree trimmer. I suspect that particular worker's memory of my tree is quite different from my own but still...now a memory. I was actually caught out in the storm...not able to get home for the trees in the road and not able to get back to where I'd come from either for the same reason. It took me two hours to go exactly 47 miles and then to the home of a friend who had no electricity!!! My friend had to rescue me...trying several roads until one was found that had no tree blocking it. In the end it turned out ok but when you're sitting in a church parking lot in the middle of the night in pitch blackness...no one had electricity...waiting on someone to come for you...with rain and lightning and wind and debris flying all around...well, faith is all you have and what gets you through and makes you think about many, many things. Anyway, it's still kinda dreary out but we've had all the birthday parties (at least for a few weeks) and the girls are back at their jobs and I've got the boys. Life does indeed move on. Cherish each moment...love ya all....hugs...
